You are invited to a  free exhibition exploring West Bridgford’s low energy homes on the 21st January  from 10am-1pm. As part of the day this Aspiring SuperHome will be open to the public from 2pm-4pm. All are welcome to visit. SuperHome Open Days agreed for 17 – 25 March 2012

Pioneering owners of some of the UK’s most energy efficient SuperHomes have agreed to host open days between Saturday 17th March and Sunday 25th March 2012 across England and Wales (and now also in Scotland).

The dates coincide with similar open day events in Bath and Bristol – Bath Homes Fit for the Future and the Bristol Green Doors Energy Saving Open Homes Event.

SuperHomes offshoot WHISCERS picks up Energy Institute award

The winners of the Energy Institute (EI) Awards were announced at a ceremony on 17 November.

The Sustainable Energy Academy (spearheading SuperHomes) with partners United House, picked up the Innovation Award for the groundbreaking WHISCERS (Whole House In Situ Carbon and Energy Reduction Solution) system.

A National Scheme for Building Insulation

The following paper makes the case for a national scheme for the insulation of buildings, especially housing, to very high standards which would be funded by the government printing the money and that money being reclaimed over a long period through a charge on the property.  This scheme could be in addition to or instead of Quantitative Easing 3.
