SuperHomes wins Retrofit Promoter of the Year Award

SuperHomes picked up the Retrofit Promoter of the Year Award at the Retro Expo Awards 2013. The decision to give SuperHomes this award was made by a panel of 15 experts from across the UK retrofit industry. It recognises the success of SuperHomes in inspiring thousands of homeowners to take action to green their homes.

The Award also reflects the recent success of SuperHomes. There were a record 3695 visits to this year’s September Open Days. The website has attracted 235,000 unique visitors in the last 12 months and is growing in year on year impact.

“An innovative ‘exemplar’ approach with well documented impact and extensive engagement and partnerships” said the Judges.

Gordon Glass, Online Marketing Manager for Superhomes, commented “I’d be the first to recognise that our success is a team effort. First you’ve got the SuperHomers whose stories are so inspiring. Then there’s the national and local media, major partners and sponsors and the volunteer interns who work with us. All magnify the impact of SuperHomes.”

SuperHomers are frequently interviewed by the national media such as The Telegraph, The Guardian and Evening Standard, helping introduce retrofit as an attractive and inspirational choice. Numerous partners including the Energy Saving Trust, Open House London and Heritage Open Days have played a significant role in alerting more people to SuperHomes Open Days.

Gordon continued: “It is the stories SuperHomers have to tell, their motivations, their personal experience and successes, that slowly but surely are painting a human picture of why retrofit makes sense. We estimate that the 175 SuperHome households have inspired perhaps over 100,000 people to take action.”

Over 50,000 people have visited a SuperHome to date. Annual visits to the website have increased more than twelvefold in the last two years.
