A queue forming outside a SuperHomeBe part of an open house initiative

The Councils of Milton Keynes, Camden and Aylesbury Vale are each working with the Sustainable Energy Academy to encourage local Green Open Homes initiatives to take root. Initially we are seeking at least 6 enthusiastic households in each area to create a core group of house openers.

Participants will benefit from mentoring and special support in the run up to opening in conjunction with SuperHomes Open Days.

Supported by SuperHomes

Your house and event information will appear on the national SuperHomes website – but your house doesn’t need to be SuperHomes standard for you to participate.

Support offered will include:

  • An informal gathering to meet other Home Openers and the organisers
  • An Open Day pack to help you open your home
  • House and event listing on national SuperHomes website
  • Online booking system to make it easy to cap and control visitor numbers for tours etc
  • Helpful promotional materials, feedback forms and information leaflets
  • A contribution to offset any disruption/cleaning surrounding the open day event
  • Free assessment of refurbishment’s carbon savings if we think they’ll exceed 60%
  • SuperHome status for your home if these carbon savings exceed 60%

Who should get involved?

We would encourage you to get involved if the following apply:

  • You have refurbished your home and it is an older house or flat
  • Refurbishment improved your comfort/cut your energy bills/reduced your carbon footprint
  • You’ve good insulation, efficient glazing or generate heat/electricity from renewables
  • You enjoy talking about the home improvements you have made
  • You want to be part of an active community of local green open homes
  • You will be able to host an open day event for 3 – 4 hours

Don’t Delay…

We hope to confirm who will join us in opening to the public in March by mid February.
