Sanya Polescuk is amongst those opening their homes for the first time in September

The excitement is building with 60 SuperHomes now confirmed to open for SuperHome Open Days in September 2015.

These homes are all older homes that have been renovated by their owners to the highest standards of comfort and energy efficiency. Visiting one will therefore provide many great ideas for greening your own home.

SuperHomes rank amongst the UK homes most improved for energy use. Each one has been renovated to achieve the radical carbon saving of at least 60% which qualifies them for SuperHome status.

In every SuperHome you can learn about a range of installed technologies. These will usually include dedicated heating, insulation and renewable energy solutions. Most owners offer tours or Q&A sessions so you’ll also get the chance to quiz them about the pros and cons of particular approaches and improvements made.

Typically Victorian, Edwardian and more modern SuperHomes can be visited, making it easier to find a house like your own to visit. As many of the properties have solid wall insulation it is a great opportunity to find out whether this particular improvement is for you.

If you own an older home and your goal is increased comfort, reduced energy bills or a smaller carbon footprint, a visit is sure to inspire. Entry is free although online donations are welcome!

Here are 5 reasons to visit SuperHomes we hope you’ll share. Hitting the ‘like’ or ‘tweet’ button at the bottom could do the job if you are a fan of social media.
