The Superhome Alliance warmly welcomes its 28th member. 

Charles Bennett’s Victorian home in Highclere, on the North Hampshire/South Berkshire border, has been extensively renovated to achieve a CO2 emissions reduction in excess of 60% by installing:

• high levels of insulation in the walls, loft and floor
• high quality double glazing
• a solar water heating system
• wood-burning stoves
• efficient oil-fired condensing boiler with zone-controlled underfloor heating
• light pipes bringing natural light into dark areas
• low energy lighting and appliances

Other features for sustainable living include: rainwater harvesting; a section of living (sedum) roof; handmade, reclaimed clay bricks and roof tiles; and clay paints.
