I have had experience with energy conscious houses in various forms over the past 20 years. A background in surveying and estate agency together with experience in property planning and the renovation business have given me a good level of background knowledge for retrofitting my own home.


I have a keen interest in energy savings and keeping down energy costs.

Property background:

This 6 bedroom, detached house was built in 1965 using Bath stone. I purchased the property 6 years ago.

Key changes made:

One of the main changes to the property is that it has been extensively insulated with external and cavity wall insulation, as well as floor, ceiling, loft and roof insulation. Double glazing has also been installed throughout the house. A whole house heat recovery system and energy management system increase the energy efficiency of the property, along with renewable energy sources including an air source heat pump, PV and solar thermal.
