Measures installed in detail:

  • Double glazed PVCu windows throughout: U-value of approximately 1.8W/m2K.
  • All windows thoroughly draught proofed and all trickle ventilators overhauled to ensure they work correctly.
  • Cavity wall insulation where no insulation and areas where existing cavity fill had sunk required topping up.
  • Existing loft insulation was increased from 50mm to 270mm.
  • Bay ceiling within lounge under drawn with 50mm thermaboard insulation.
  • Air pressure test on completion of works measured air tightness at 5.68 m3 per hour per m2 of floor area (25% reduction).
  • Alpha FlowSmart condensing combination A rated boiler with Gas Saver flue gas heat recovery unit and 25 litre thermal stores was fitted.
  • Low energy lighting throughout
  • Low energy appliances throughout
  • Water saving devices includes; kitchen and bathroom taps replaced with duel click function and can reduce water consumption by up to 50%.  A duel flush WC was installed and a flow reducing shower head was fitted to reduce water consumption.
  • Other measures installed: An electric display meter was fitted so residents could easily identify their electrical consumption.  Monthly education and advice visits were also provided Under the RELISH (Residents for Low Impact Sustainable Homes) programme to help reduce the households annual fuel consumption.
